Cold weather blues. What to do?
Sorry it's been a bit since I've posted. Holidays, work, company and vacation have really kept me busy. Now this extreme cold has settled in. I hate cold weather anyway, but this is out of control.
To help with my cold weather blues, I've decided to focus on spring. It has really helped! I'm not so depressed about the weather now.
Even though its still cold, it is a great time to start planning for spring landscaping. In many areas, late February is time to prune shrubs as well as plant certain shrubs and trees.
It is also a great time to prep your flower beds and gardens. We use our leaves as protection and fertilizer in our beds by blowing them into the beds during the fall. This helps to keep the roots warm throughout the cold months. So February / March is time to blow them out, or in a vegetable garden, till them in.
Other preparation that can be done is planning out what plants will go where or where a new garden may go. Just think, by the time it is time to plant your beds will be ready and you'll have your list of plants to buy.
Happy planning!
