Thanksgiving. .. making time to get it all done.
Thanksgiving is next week and finding time to cook this big meal, clean the house and let us not forget, we have a full time job, can be quite overwhelming.
Over the years I've been the host for Thanksgiving many times and have pretty much found a viable solution to fitting it all in the schedule.
I spread the cooking out over 3 days. And throw in a bit of cleaning each day. By the time the day has arrived... It's a breeze!
Tuesday is baking day. I bake a ton of pies. Last time I think it was 9... The only challenge here is keeping everyone out of them for 2 days.
Wednesday, prep day. Make up cassaroles, peel potatoes (store in frig, in water), whatever your menu is, prep as much as possible.
Thanksgiving morning. Time to cook! Put the turkey in the oven early. Then, finish up with last minute house cleaning. A few hours before everyone is to arrive, put all those pre -prepped dishes in the oven.
When everyone starts showing up, the house is clean and smells great! Let us not forget, the dessert table already looks grand since your pies were done 2 days ago! Best of all, you will have time to visit with your guests a bit since the only thing left is pulling all those amazing dishes out of the oven!
I don't know about you, but it's a good feeling when you can visit with your guests instead of putting them to work.
Check back in throughout the next week for few recipes for your Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope this helps!
Happy prepping!
